Where can I get help with Medicare's Open Enrollment Period?

Where to get help with Medicare's Open Enrollment?There are several ways to get the help you may need figuring out what to do during the Open Enrollment period, October 15-December 7.

  • Compare plans using the Medicare Plan Finder at www.medicare.gov.  This free tool provides information about benefits, costs, and quality ratings of plans in your area. If you the plan finder results don't make much sense, 65 Incorporated offers a video educational program to help you compare Medicare Advantage plans and select the right plan for you. 
  • Review the “Medicare & You 2013” publication that you should have received by mail in October.
  • Call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227) and say “Agent” for help with specific questions about your plan and coverage.  This helpline is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  (The TTY number is 1-877-486-2048.)
  • Contact your State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP).  To find information about the program in your state, call 1-800-MEDICARE or visit www.medicare.gov/contacts.  Check “Do you want to find a specific organization?” and then select “SHIP” and your state.)
  • Check out 65 Incorporated’s resources for open enrollment.
