The Affordable Care Act mandated that higher income beneficiaries must pay an income-related monthly adjustment amount for Medicare Part D, prescription drug coverage. |

If you are subject to IRMAA and don’t pay the additional premium, Medicare will disenroll you (meaning discontinue coverage) from the prescription drug plan. If you get your drug coverage through a Medicare Advantage or employer or union group plan, you will be disenrolled from that coverage. To avoid loss of drug coverage, it’s best to pay the monthly amount. |
