How do I enroll in Medicare?

There are three ways to enroll...

1. Enroll online at www.socialsecurity.gov/medicareonly. Before you start the process, read the publication “How to apply online for Medicare only” at www.socialsecurity.gov/pubs/EN-05-10531.pdf. Social Security promotes this as the easiest and quickest way to enroll. If you have questions or your situation is more complicated, Social Security will contact you.
2. Call Social Security at (800) 772-1213 between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM Monday through Friday. The agent will schedule a telephone appointment for you that will be several days or weeks in the future. 
3. Visit your local Social Security office. To find your office, enter your zip code at the address listed on the screen. Then, if you want to reduce the waiting time in the office, call (800) 772-1213 for an appointment. Know that many offices do not accept appointments. 

PS: If you are already receiving Social Security benefits, you do not need to take any action. You will be enrolled automatically in Medicare.
