Do you know how old you must be to qualify for Medicare?

How old do you need to be to enroll in Medicare?

We named our company 65 Incorporated for a very good reason... People must be 65 years old in order to qualify for Medicare.

You can enroll in Medicare up to three months before the month of your 65th birthday and coverage will become effective on the first day of your birth month.

If your birthday falls on the first day of the month, you can qualify for coverage the month before your birth month if your enroll prior to that month.

Do you have other health insurance and want to delay Medicare enrollment beyond age 65?  There are special procedures for this that you will need to be aware of.

Those with disabilities, permanent kidney failure, and Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS) can qualify for Medicare at a younger age.
