What is a cost-sharing Medigap policy?

There are two types of standardized Medigap policies that feature cost sharing.  Plan K covers 50% of the cost of the basic Medigap benefits, including the coinsurance for Parts A and B, hospice, and skilled nursing facility stays, and the first three pints of blood. Plan L covers 75% of those costs. These plans also feature an out-of-pocket limit:  Plan K—$6,940 and Plan L—$3,470. Once the beneficiary has met that limit and paid the Part B deductible, the Medigap policy covers expenses for the rest of the year.

Cost-sharing Medigap policies are not available in all areas.

There are also high-deductible Plan G and Plan F Medigap policies. The 2023 deductible is $2,700.
